Project Profile

Temple Drive & Mayfield Street Reconstruction

Temple Drive in Terrell, Texas, is a commercial 2-lane roadway (36’ wide) within a 60’ ROW that serves a newly relocated national building supplier. The existing 2-lane asphalt was deteriorating as a result of the heavy traffic caused by the new business. It also leads into a historic neighborhood with limited access.

The City of Terrell has charged MPCE with designing a commercial roadway with traffic calming and access limiting geometry to discourage commercial traffic from entering the neighborhood and utilizing SH 34 instead. This included realigning the Y-intersection of Temple Street, Mayfield Drive, and Runnells Street to be more of a true T-intersection. Drainage concerns were also addressed in the greenspace buffer between the commercial and residential areas.
